Hawker in Penang. Penang is one of the Northern state of Malaysia famous for its Nasi kandar and laksa Penang.

Below are fridge magnets from Brunei Darussalam. These three FMs are of typical food and drink available in Brunei. I bought all the three FMs from a local souvenir shop at Gadong Mall.

Satay FM. Satay is a popular dish, slices of chicken/beef in sticks dipped in peanut sauce.

Teh Tarik FM (milk tea in cup/glass pulled to came up with a bubbly milk tea drink). A very popular drink especially for breakfast and High tea.

Roti Prata FM. Roti Prata is a popular dish at Indian Resturants.

I have some Fridge magnets from Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam and also the Philippines. I will start with the ones from Cambodia.

This one below is from Cambodia. These are gifts from my best friend, Ade when she was in Cambodia for a holiday.

Next below are the FMs from Brunei Darussalam. Mostly I bought myself from shops around Brunei. The one below showed the Royal Regalia building located right athe heart of Bandar Seri begawan, Brunei's capital. It is one of Brunei's tourist attraction.

According to the wikipedia, a refrigerator magnet (fridge magnet) is an ornament attached to a magnet that is used to post items such as shopping lists or report cards on a refrigerator, or simply as decoration. Refrigerator magnets come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, including for example, images die-cut to a specific shape or tiny plastic sculptures of fruits. Refrigerator magnets are a relatively popular object of collectors.

The first refrigerator magnet patent was obtained by William Zimmerman of St. Louis, Missouri, in the early 1970s.[citation needed] Zimmerman patented the idea of small, colored, cartoon magnets to be used for decorative display and convenience.

Magnetic polarization
Unlike most conventional magnets that have distinct north and south poles, flat refrigerator magnets made from composite materials are often constructed with alternating north and south poles on the same surface of the plane; this can be felt by taking two similar (or identical) refrigerator magnets and sliding them against each other with the "magnetic" sides facing each other: the magnets will alternately repel and attract as they are moved a few millimeters. This construction is more effective at keeping the large planar magnet uniformly stuck onto the steel refrigerator than a uniformly- polarized magnet would be. The technical term for this arrangement is Halbach array.

Special purpose refrigerator magnets
Sets containing magnets in the shape of the letters of the alphabet have been manufactured since at least the 1970s, and marketed as an educational production for young children. In the 1990s, sets of very small magnets printed with individual words became popular; these sets are used to create impromptu magnetic poetry. Relatively strong magnets with hooks are produced for the purpose of hanging oven mitts or keys. Magnets that serve as a picture frame are also fairly common. Welcome to my blog specially about my fridge Magnet Collection since 2006. To be exact, I don't remember when I started collecting Fridge Magnets, but it was a while back beyond 2006. But then, I was not much into it, later my younger sister also began to collect the FMs. Later in 2007, I found a thread discussing about collecting Fridge Magnet in the CARI Forum. That triggered me to restart my collection. We had much discussion, posting each other's collection in the Forum and exchange of Fridge Magnets too.

I also bought the fridge magnets for my collection whenever I go for a holiday or bought them from local shops. My colleagues and friends who know my hobby, also bought Fridge Magnets for me as souvenir. My collection grows and so far I have more than 100 Fridge Magnets. The collection include travel magnets and also others. I will post photos of each of my collection in this blog.
